About the event
The purpose of this workshop is to educate mental health practitioners on how toxic relationships (including IPV) impact clinical practice. Practitioners will deepen their understanding and conceptualization of how these relationships develop, trauma bonds, and how they are maintained. This program will not only assist practitioners in assessing risk factors and providing appropriate interventions for clients specifically seeking services for IPV, but also screen (and create a safety plan) for IPV amongst clients that may otherwise go undetected. Practitioners will learn about IPV within the LGBTQ+ community and other marginalized communities, police involvement, and how to incorporate psycho-educational materials into their work.
