American Muslims face ongoing discrimination, Anti Muslim hate, and bias that often impact their mental health and overall wellbeing. Muslims are a diverse group that can include clients with cultural backgrounds from all over the world. However, they are often underserved and misunderstood in the mental health field which can lead to poor treatment outcomes. This training will help therapists become more culturally competent in working with Muslim clients and they will learn skills to increase the effectiveness of their work with this population.
Two Cultural Competency credits approved by NASW/CT
Therapists will increase their cultural competency in working with Muslim clients by:
- Learning a brief overview of Islam and its main components
