About the event

In this training, therapists will dive into the core beliefs and values of Purity Culture: exploring how its emphasis on sexual purity, rigid gender roles, and moralistic teachings often leads to deep feelings of shame, guilt, and fear. Participants will examine the long-term mental health effects of Purity Culture, such as issues with self-esteem, identity confusion, and relationship struggles. Through the workshop, therapists will learn specific tools to help clients navigate and heal from the trauma of Purity Culture, creating a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to reclaim their narratives and sense of self-worth. This training will also enhance cultural competence by addressing the diversity of religious communities and the varying impacts of Purity Culture across faith traditions.

Join our religious trauma expert, Nicolle Wargo- Boswell as we unpack the layers of Purity Culture (and religious trauma)
